Several new recordings are presented in this 6-CD set with the complete piano works of the great romantic Johannes Brahms: the variations are superbly played by young German prize-winning pianist Wolfram Schmitt-Leonardy, mastering the fiendishly difficult Paganini Variations with supreme ease and power (but also the much more lyrical and intimate Schumann Variations!). Young Turkish pianist Kamerhan Turan gives a brilliant account of the youthful Piano Sonata No. 1.
World-famous Hélene Grimaud shows her brilliance and passion in the Sonatas Nos. 2 and 3, whereas Hakon Austbö offers his incomparable sensibility in the complete Klavierstücke (Brahms’ “Lullabies of my sorrow” ..)
